Slaveya Starkov is an author-illustrator who grew up between her grandmother’s kitchen in Bulgaria and the grand halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Slaveya earned her BFA in Comparative World Theatre & Art from Fordham University. Since her years at Fordham, she has used her skills in visual storytelling as both a teaching artist for children ages 2 through 22 and as an art director for film/video. She takes her greatest inspirations from the folktales she was told as a little girl, and the adventures she goes on as a woman.
